Preview of Gatsby essay
Fitzgerald characterization creates a tone around the theme of happiness when he writes about the chracters. The chracters may be wealthy but that is not enough. The materialistic attitude can be seen in The Great Gatsby the characters slowly achieveing the American Dream. But that is not enough for one of our chracters, Gatsbys welth gave him moments of happiness but that wasn't enough. If money can get him the girl he would take the risk even though the consequences might lead him to his death. In my opinion Fitzgerald attitude towards happiness is well money can't be able to buy you happiness but love can. So what I am trying to state here is that money is taking over their feelings and slowly they are being unhappy people with problems and Fitzgerald shows this when he talks about Tom, Tom has it all wealthy man but in reality he isn't happy with himself. Most of the chracters in the Great Gatsby seem to have it all but not happiness. I think it does depend on love to ...
