Preview of Gatsby essay
Fitzgerald characterization creates a tone around the theme of happiness when he writes about the chracters. The chracters may be wealthy but that is not enough. The materialistic attitude can be seen in The Great Gatsby the characters slowly achieveing the American Dream. But that is not enough for one of our chracters, Gatsbys welth gave him moments of happiness but that wasn't enough. If money can get him the girl he would take the risk even though the consequences might lead him to his death. In my opinion Fitzgerald attitude towards happiness is well money can't be able to buy you happiness but love can. So what I am trying to state here is that money is taking over their feelings and slowly they are being unhappy people with problems and Fitzgerald shows this when he talks about Tom, Tom has it all wealthy man but in reality he isn't happy with himself. Most of the chracters in the Great Gatsby seem to have it all but not happiness. I think it does depend on love to repair the broken or achieving something but wealth well yes sometimes but not really. When something in your past life goes wrong or going not according to plan well we want to go back and fix it there is nothing wrong with that but to repair it you have to learn from your past mistakes. Just that sometimes you can't go back and fix it because then you might just end up messing something up in your present life. Overall mistakes are made and that is how life wanted it to be so all we can do about is maybe think better before you do something or else you will have consequences and regret later on.
