Preview of Gatsby essay

Fitzgerald characterization  creates a tone around the theme of happiness when he writes about the chracters. The chracters may be wealthy but that is not enough. The materialistic attitude can be seen in The Great Gatsby the characters slowly achieveing the American Dream. But that is not enough for one of our chracters, Gatsbys welth gave him moments of happiness but that wasn't enough. If money can get him the girl he would take the risk even though the consequences might lead him to his death. In my opinion Fitzgerald attitude towards happiness is well money can't be able to buy you happiness but love can. So what I am trying to state here is that money is taking over their feelings and slowly they are being unhappy people with problems and Fitzgerald shows this when he talks about Tom, Tom has it all wealthy man but in reality he isn't happy with himself. Most of the chracters in the Great Gatsby seem to have it all but not happiness. I think it does depend on love to

Cue theme music

I think the central message of the book is thinking before you do something you might regret. The main point of this book is being to quick to agree with your decisions and not being able to change it later on. Live in the present and learn to deal with the past.

what's so great abut Gatsby

The great thing about The Great Gatsby is that the characters and their decisions also reflect life in American today. For Example, "whenever you feel like criticising anyone just remember that all people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had." People now in days criticises a lot not knowing the advantages they had or just cause they are heartless. This can really reflect to our world right now. In my opinion i wouldn't say Gatsby is the best but also not the worst so just a good character. He is a good character because he shows that he really cares for someone and would go through fire for this person anything to have them but in general he seems like a good guy not the best but good. He is not the best because he doesn't show himself much respect in my opinion. I think that Nick is honest with himself he has more self respect compared to the other characters.  He does constantly hang out with dis honest people which is kind of like, wh

Chapter 9

In the book it starts out in spring and things blossom in spring then towards the end of the book autumn begins and in autumn everything well dies. Everything starts out good at the beginning of the book but then going more further everything seems to fall apart with the characters. We found out in class that someone killed Wilson but then we read more and turns out he committed suicide. Gatsby is also dead as well. Then the puzzle starts to connect towards the middle of the book. Daisy - married - Tom - cheater Don't know                       Girlfriend George - married- Myrtle -  cheater So then George thinks that Myrtle is cheating on him with Gatsby so he kills him and then kills himself. Most of the people Gatsby new were just fake to him straight forward. Nobody arrived at Gatsby funeral. Tom and Daisy are careless of their action and just in general, selfish, ruin friendships and marriages. Tom lied to Wilson that Gatsby was driving the car even though he kne

Chapter 8

Gatsby tells nick that he stayed up until four o' clock waiting for Daisy but nothing. Daisy did not go outside and Tom did not try to hurt Daisy. Gatsby says that Tom and Daisy got married even though Daisy told him he would wait for him. He also talks about Tom social position being solid and getting approval by the parents to get married. Nick suggests Gatsby to forget about Daisy and to leave long island. Gatsby rejects Nick suggestion because Gatsby told him that she loved Daisy for youth and validity, he lied to her about his background so she can see he was worthy of her. Gatsby says that him and Daisy made love and he felt like they were already married and Daisy promised him that he would wait for her.  I think the author brings up the draining pool because Gatsby rebuilt what he lost with Daisy and just to see it fade away and the same thing with the pool everything just disappears into emptiness. When the author talks about the swim shows that summer is already almos

Chapter 7 notes and guiding questions

Gatsby stops having parties because he got Daisy attention and wants privacy. Gatsby fires  his staff because they were discreet about Daisy's visits.  Gatsby reaction to Daisy's daughter he is surprised even though she knew she existed. Daisy tells her own daughter, ''be a beautiful fool that's all you can ever be.'' The confrontation between Tom and Gatsby well it's over Daisy Tom mocks Gatsby's habits Gatsby tells tom "your wife doesn't love you."Tom accuses Gatsby of running a bootlegging. On the way back to long island Myrtle gets hit by a yellow car and the car sped away.Daisy and Gatsby were in the yellow car. Tom thinks that Gatsby was the one who hit Myrtle. At the end of chapter 7 Tom and Daisy leave they just go leaving things like that. This tells us that Daisy can care less about anyone but herself.

Have to versus want to versus get to.

The difference between agreeing to complete work for each other well i am guessing is like giving them your word that you will make time for it and get it done. Being told what to do for homework  is like why can't we just get it done at home but you have to understand it's like extra practice to understand what we are doing in the class. Exploring what you want to in your own way is like it's something fun something that interest you without having to be told to do it cause you can do this certain thing any free time you have.
