Chapter 8

Gatsby tells nick that he stayed up until four o' clock waiting for Daisy but nothing. Daisy did not go outside and Tom did not try to hurt Daisy. Gatsby says that Tom and Daisy got married even though Daisy told him he would wait for him. He also talks about Tom social position being solid and getting approval by the parents to get married.
Nick suggests Gatsby to forget about Daisy and to leave long island. Gatsby rejects Nick suggestion because Gatsby told him that she loved Daisy for youth and validity, he lied to her about his background so she can see he was worthy of her.
Gatsby says that him and Daisy made love and he felt like they were already married and Daisy promised him that he would wait for her.
I think the author brings up the draining pool because Gatsby rebuilt what he lost with Daisy and just to see it fade away and the same thing with the pool everything just disappears into emptiness.
When the author talks about the swim shows that summer is already almost over is kind of showing that he still hanging on there to his you could say dreams.
