My learning fall and rise
When I first came to the class i wasn't so excited because it's the first day of school not so exciting as other stuff. At this point I was just thinking well all I mostly have to do is turn in finished work and I will have a good grade. So the type of learner I think I was at this moment is just do work and focus, don't be such a try hard. I was just expecting the class to be a normal English class or like any other class. What I mean by this is that when you first start school the teachers usually tell you to introduce yourself or something about yourself. I can not really remember what we did that day but I sure do not remember having to introduce myself to the class. Other than that I do remember going to the seat that isn't so close to the teacher or towards the front of the class, because we don't want to be called on, on the first day.
When Dr. Preston told the class that we were deciding how the course would run and left the room I was kind of shocked. I don't know about the rest of the class but what was going through my head was, why did he just leave, how can he trust us that quick and what should I choose about running the course? After all of that I had to make a choice so I did of course take my time to choose at first I thought it would be easy just to go with the whole textbook idea. After thinking about it for a while I thought to myself why not go with something more different this year never know might work out better just have to give it a chance to experience new ways of learning. Other than that it was pretty exciting that a teacher would just walk out and letting us make our own choice of what to do, on the first week of school.
The journals was very confusing at first I didn't really understand what they were all about but then I started to listen more then I understood that it was mostly our opinion or just what's on our minds. Then they started to get more interesting especially when we started to read on self reliance and also the pedestrian. Those were the most interesting to write about in our journals well in my opinion. Then the blogs came it was confusing on how to start one. I remember that Dr. Preston would be asking me why I haven't I started to do my blog. Then I finally came in to get help to start one and now I have my blog. It was a good idea to ask for help or else I would have been struggling for a while just to get a blog. The blogs I didn't really enjoy at first especially when we had to record myself and post it. I remember doing the road not taken I was their for hours trying to get it done and memorize the poem it was so much work trying to find somewhere peaceful and quiet to record myself. I also remember coming into class early so Dr. Preston can help me upload it to my blog then we finally got it done and Dr. Preston said I had a big smile on my face when we finally got it to my blog. One of my favorite blogs I wrote about is the story of my life I really enjoyed writing it, I was more proud about it when Dr. Preston told me he liked it so I was pretty proud of it.
The point where I felt that I was already giving up is when we had to do the resume that's when I started to struggle more. I couldn't even finish the rough draft so it could be looked at like checked. I kept on telling myself that I have to start doing it because it was important to get it done but of course I just set it aside until the interview came around. When I found out that we were going to need the resume for the interview I started to worry more about it so I stopped procrastinating and got it done even though I couldn't find ways on how I volunteered in school. What I learned about this event in my life is that, I shouldn't put things aside just so a day can come where I worry about it because it suddenly becomes important. Even if it doesn't look so important at first I should take my time to at least do it because I never know it might be helpful later on.
My routine to finish most my work before the end of the semester was get it done this will help you later on during life. Even if you see that your life is going down slowly don't go down with it be strong and get back up their finish what you start. So mostly my routine was to motivate myself into doing the work and to see that it will be very helpful later on. I can't really give myself all the credit though I have to include my family I have seen many things in my past that I wouldn't want to experience again which helped me get stronger even if at times I felt like just giving up like what was the whole point. I also have to include on self reliance it really was a helpful reading and I want to give thanks to Dr.Preston for reading it to us in class.
I am a diffrent learner because I got to be someone more new someone that is willing to be a little bit more out their. I am more opened minded you could say not like in the beginning when I was just their to get a good grade now I want to be more involved in what we are doing I don't really want to be just someone who basically just comes to warm up the seat no more. But of course their is baby steps to everything so that's what I am going to start doing taking small steps to be more of a student that wants to learn new things and let those things come into my life even if at times their not that interesting.
